Flat season preview 2024
Four year old Rumstar remains in training. He has been gelded and given a short winter break so hopefully this year can go better for him. He will start in sprint handicaps and we will see how that goes.
A handful of old timers hopefully can be relied upon to compete in reasonable races. 6 year old Way Of Life has been busy over the winter getting place money. 7 year old Sweet Reward has come back from his break looking as strong and happy as ever along with his 5 year old half brother old Two Tempting. 5 year old Mrembo is another who is pretty reliable in her current grade.
Four year olds Enochdhu and Twilight Dancer can hopefully win again. One More Wave broke his maiden tag and hopefully he can develop into a fair horse. He is a big horse by Bated Breath so is entitled to improve with age and experience.
The three year old picture is not so clear! One or two of last year’s two year olds showed promise but also immaturity so hopefully the likes of Maxim De Winter, Newfangled, Mrs Nell, Brinton, Thunderous Love can show that they are currently well handicapped and come good. Make A Scene was a speculative buy at the Guineas breeze up Tattersalls sale in 2023. Given plenty of time since then she has a win and a third to her name from just three runs to date and she hopefully has a little more to come.
Injuries occurred to Zinchenko, Nancy Rose and No Mischief, all of whom showed promise, so if they can return safely to action that would be good.
We are all currently getting to know the two year olds. First season stallions are represented. Wondrous Light (Earthlight) is some size but very likeable. She is second foal from unraced Mastercraftsman mare Fullofwonder who is a half sister to black type winner Awesometank. The Mohaather filly x Tahiti (Royal Applause) was very cheaply bought coming from the family of speedy Group winner Kachy. Kameko filly West Kirby looks fairly forward and is a late second foal out of a multiple winning and Listed placed mare (Foxwedge). The February born Bated Breath filly out of 2yr old winning Bahamian Bounty mare Merry Diva has a chance on looks and paper to be interesting. On A Vespa (Harry’s Angel) is a filly who could get involved as a two year old coming from a 6/7f winning dam (Holy Roman Emperor).
There is some quality to Bizou, a £45k Zoustar filly out of a French 10f Listed winner ( Le Havre) from the speedy family of Gordon Lord Byron. One that may need a little more time but has some quality is Un named Masar filly out of a winning Acclamation mare.
The first foal of our tough winning sprinter Devils Roc (Lethal Force)has been put into training with us. Roc D’Azur is by Land Force and is coming along nicely and holds a Weatherbys Supersprint entry. Another winning former inmate here Annie Quickstep has her first foal also in training and that filly has a chance being by Havana Grey.
We are short on two year old colts. Bulletin (Advertise) is a colt out of an unraced Acclamation mare who looks strong and capable at this early stage. Bownder (Belardo) is a forward looking gelding out of a winning Oratorio mare and can be one to crack on with. Both hold entries for the £150k Tattersalls Auction Stakes at Newmarket in October.
