Winner at Ascot

4 year old Rumstar won the £55k Listed 5f Rous Stakes in commanding style ridden by Hector Crouch.

A Group 3 winner as a two year old, Rumstar has found winning difficult since. A great run in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot when 5th was his highlight last year but his low point was unseating his jockey at the starting stalls in the Stewards Cup and a few luckless runs the same year. This season has been more positive for him with a good second place first time out at Newbury and a very good run in defeat in the £100k Portland Handicap last month at Doncaster.

Co owner Vincent Ward was absent for medical reasons but his son Russell was able to collect their trophy and enjoy the moment.

This win took our annual prize money amount over the £400k for the first time since we started in 1998. Hopefully we can add to that over the remaining months of the year.
